- $1,200 is the maximum donation an individual can make to a candidate. $5,000 is the maximum amount for two or more candidates in the same municipality.
- All donations over $100 must be reported in the candidate’s financial statements with a name and address. Donations over $25 cannot be cash.
- Donations at the municipal level are not tax deductible. However, a receipt will be issued for your donation before the end of the calendar year (31 December 2022).
- Donations to municipal candidates are very important, especially for Ward Councillor candidates. It helps pay for campaign expenses where the limit for Ward 2 is $21,536.75. Every bit of donation helps.
